When I first came into contact with biodynamic craniosacral therapy, I was struggling with chronic back issues that kept coming back. I had been told that I had a slipped disk and that surgery might be necessary in the future. I had tried various forms of bodywork, including chiropractic interventions, massage, and osteopathy, but none of them seemed to address the underlying patterns that were causing my symptoms.
Then, I found myself on the treatment table of a biodynamic craniosacral therapist. For the first time, I experienced how my body was making palpable and significant changes from within, without any manipulative intervention from the therapist. Over the course of ten sessions, I went through deep processes and internal reorganizations that not only brought an end to my painful and debilitating back episodes, but also instilled a deep trust in my body’s inherent ability to continuously reorganize itself and restore health.
As I went through these sessions, I also came to realize how my physical pain was deeply influenced by the constant stress I was under in my work environment. I was in a toxic and stressful business setting at the time, and this realization led me to make the decision to change my career and leave that environment behind.
I was so inspired and curious about the effects of this therapy, and the seemingly magical unfolding that happened to me on the treatment table, that I wanted to find out more about it. I read some influential books and then decided to train to become a Biodynamic Craniosacral therapist myself. During my training, I realized that I had not really felt safe for most of my life, and I was in awe about how safety was really at the heart of this therapy. I came to understand how safety, or lack thereof, can affect our autonomic nervous system, and in fact every cell of our body.

Now, 15 years later, I am a senior tutor for two international colleges, educating students to become Biodynamic Craniosacral therapists and running a busy clinic in Naduir, Center for holistic health that I manage with my partner Ciara. I have come to understand that the magic I perceived in the processes that unfolded on the treatment table is inspired by a mind-body system that perceives a safer environment within the body and also in the environment. When we feel safe, our metabolic resources are distributed to favour and enhance everything that has to do with long term goals, restoration and sustenance.
In this way, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy can be incredibly beneficial for clients who engage in a course of treatments, helping to reduce pain and discomfort, improve mobility, and increase overall well-being. It can also help to release emotional and psychological tension, leading to improved mental health and greater emotional balance. Additionally, it can create a sense of safety and trust in the body, leading to greater self-awareness and a deeper understanding of the mind-body connection.
